Urbanist is looking for freelance writers to contribute to urban, lifestyle, neighborhood, food, entertainment, and event articles on an ongoing basis. We are seeking out the context of what makes a neighborhood relevant and the context of why someone would want to live there. The ideal candidate has an intimate understanding of Denver and the urban nature of the city. We are looking for someone with a desire to dive in and build a portfolio of content that could be ongoing. Urbanist provides an opportunity to creat exciting content for both locals and those moving to Denver. The primary audience is 20-35 or better known as the millennial generation. Photography skills a plus along with understanding of SEO and social media although not necessary.
Responsibilities
-Ability to write in a casual, honest, socially & self aware manner
-Writing style should be written as if meant to read out loud. writing how we speak
-Honesty is the best policy e.g. Do these jeans make me look fat? Yeah kinda
-Self Aware - tongue-in-cheek, provocative, while thinking creatively, make sure the audience gets this
-story teller who knows the story isn t about them, make people laugh, engage, while teaching them something and adding value to their day.
-Create relevant and engaging content based on specific denver urban neighborhoods
-knowledge of Denver s neighborhoods, food, events, lifestyle, nightlife, bars, shops, events, and keeping current on upcoming changes
Qualifications
-Must be based in or near Denver
-Experience with writing, and a passion for exploring and discovering
-Ability to meet deadlines while working independently
