My name is CURT GOLDEN, and I offer private instruction in Seattle, for beginners through advanced players, adults and young people. The primary focus of the approach I use is HOW to play, rather than WHAT to play, with an emphasis on mechanics, fretboard knowledge and ear training. My aim is for you to develop the skills to play anything you wish, and not simply the things I show you. With the guitar, the best thing we can do for ourselves is learn how to learn. Then, no teacher and no method can hold us back. Whether you are a beginner just thinking about getting some guidance, or you've been playing for some time and feel you are ready to kick it up a notch, I can help.
I am a guitarist, instructor and performer with more than 40 years experience; proficient in many styles. I am a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. For the past 29 years have been an instructor and mentor in Guitar Craft, in Seattle and Worldwide. We recently organized a short tour of the Northwest for Robert Fripp and the Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists (http://www.orchestraofcraftyguitarists.com), performing in Bellingham, Portland, and Seattle over the Memorial Day weekend. I am the guitarist and vocalist for Undercover Blues Band, and one quarter of the Definitely String Quartet.
In xxxx I co-founded the Seattle Circle Guitar School (http://www.seattlecircleguitarschool.org) which presents guitar circles for elementary school kids.
